Wat Phra Kaew – Temple Of The Emerald Buddha!

Thailand is renowned for its rich heritage of temples and other pieces of marvelous historical architecture. The Wat Phra Kaew it is one of the best examples for illustrating this. I made my trip early to the Wat Phra Kaew temple with my camera in hand and was keen to see this legendary temple. It is a prime destination for everyone who is interested in architecture and history.

I was truly mesmerized at the sight of the temple when I had reached after a long cab ride. I was in such a trance that I was not bothered about even touching my camera. This symbol of Thailand’s political and historical glory is a true sight to behold. It is the epicenter of Bangkok’s rich religio-political heritage. The pictures I managed to capture cannot even be compared to actually being in Bangkok and witnessing this marvel.

The legendary Emerald Buddha is believed to bring prosperity and happiness to whichever country the statue resides it. The Emerald Buddha is one of the most revered images that the Thai’s revere and respect. The statue is believed to have been made in India five hundred years after Buddha attained Nirvana, by the saint Nagasena with the help of Lord Vishnu and the demi-god Indra. Nagasena was also believed to possess psychic powers and is a revered saint in Buddhism.

The beautiful weather and breeze made my experience seem even more like a dream, due to the sheer beauty and heavenly aura this temple radiates. The true complexity of the temple’s architecture has to be one of the best craftsmanship. The sheer size of the temple complex is inexplicable and mind-boggling. The entire complex seems unreal and exudes an intense spiritual vibe that I still cherish to this day.

Another site to behold is the wall that surrounds the entire complex; the entire wall depicts epic murals depicting images and scenes from the Hindu text of Ramayana. The mural that is depicted in the wall would take hours just to be admired. To date my experience with the Emerald Buddha is one of my most cherished memories.  Every traveling enthusiast should definitely visit this marvelous site.
